01 Why NORDIC

The fourth option.

The serious British gardener has had three choices, and none of them quite fit: a flimsy aluminium box, a £4,500-plus heritage glasshouse, or a polytunnel whose film perishes every few seasons.

NORDIC is the fourth: a timber-frame glasshouse engineered for the British season, built by a workshop with over 20 years of greenhouse-making expertise.

  • A timber-frame glasshouse, not a flat-pack aluminium box and not a £4,500-plus heritage frame.
  • 45 × 45 mm FSC Swedish pine, reinforced with 1.2 mm galvanised steel at every node joint, not only at the corners.
  • Screw-fixed 4 mm twin-wall polycarbonate, with no spring clips to pop out in the wind.
  • Five sizes, one cross-section: the same materials whether you start small or large.

02 How it is built

Numbers, not adjectives.

A 45 × 45 mm FSC Swedish-pine frame, reinforced with galvanised steel at every node, wrapped in a continuous polycarbonate skin with no seam where greenhouses usually fail.

03 The range

Five sizes, one system.

From 8 × 6 ft to 8 × 20 ft. Every size shares the same pine cross-section, the same galvanised steel at every node, the same 4 mm twin-wall polycarbonate and the same 2.30 m ridge. Only the length changes, and the room to grow.

06 Warranty, published before you order

Published, not buried.

Our warranty terms are published here and on the product page before you order, not discovered after the storm, and with no "extreme weather" exclusion hidden in the small print.

10-year anti-rot frame warranty (conditional on re-treating timber with any UK-purchased wood preservative every 2 years) + 2-year polycarbonate panel warranty (manufacturer defects).
  • Frame against rot: re-treat the timber every 2 years with any UK-purchased preservative.
  • Polycarbonate panels against manufacturer defects.
  • Replacement parts held in stock for 10 years from your purchase date.
  • 14-day change-of-mind returns. The greenhouse must be unused, unassembled and on its original pallet with the panel film intact. You arrange and pay the return pallet courier (typically £150–£250 mainland UK).
07 The pledge

Built by people who build them.

We tell you what we engineered, what the spec is and what the warranty covers, then let you decide what that means for your garden. We do not claim "built for British storms", and we do not claim a "published warranty".

  • Warranty terms published before checkout, every condition, in plain English.
  • Honest engineering: we state the spec, not a superlative.
  • 14-day change-of-mind returns. The greenhouse must be unused, unassembled and on its original pallet with the panel film intact. You arrange and pay the return pallet courier (typically £150–£250 mainland UK).
  • If anything arrives damaged, we arrange collection and send the replacement.
  • Built by a workshop with over 20 years of greenhouse-making expertise.
08 Questions, answered

The ones we hear most.

  1. Will I need planning permission?

For most UK plots, no. The 2.30 m ridge sits below the 2.5 m Permitted Development threshold for outbuildings. The exceptions are listed-building grounds, Article 4 zones, or plots where outbuildings already cover more than 50% of the garden, so check with your local council.

  2. How long does it take to build?

Self-assembly, a couple of days, no specialist tools. You get pre-cut numbered panels, an illustrated guide and a scan-to-watch video tutorial.

  3. Do I need a concrete pad?

None at all. Galvanised ground anchors hammer straight into prepared ground, paving or decking, with no foundation pour required.

  4. Why polycarbonate, not glass?

It flexes rather than shattering, which is safer with children, pets and bare feet, and twin-wall holds heat better than single-pane glass. Every panel is screw-fixed, so panels stay where they were fitted.
