NORDIC Brochure — The Wooden Greenhouse, Fully Specified
The wooden greenhouse, fully specified
Solid timber. Galvanised steel at every joint.
Garden architecture for British weather.

The fourth option.
The serious British gardener has had three options — none of them right.
A cheap polycarbonate-and-aluminium box that twists in the first proper storm. A heritage glasshouse that prices the conversation out of the room. Or a polytunnel whose film perishes at the hoops every few years.
NORDIC is the fourth: a timber-frame glasshouse engineered for the British season the spring-clip aluminium structures don't survive — at the price serious-amateur growing should always have had. Built by a workshop with over 20 years of greenhouse-making expertise.
- A timber-frame glasshouse — not a flat-pack aluminium box, not a £4,500+ heritage frame.
- 45 × 45 mm FSC Swedish pine, reinforced with 1.2 mm galvanised steel at every node joint — not only the corners.
- Screw-fixed 4 mm twin-wall polycarbonate. No spring clips to pop out in the wind.
- Five sizes, one cross-section — the same materials whether you start small or large.

Numbers, not adjectives.
A 45 × 45 mm FSC Swedish-pine frame, factory pressure-treated, reinforced with galvanised steel at every node — and a continuous polycarbonate wrap with no seam where greenhouses usually fail.

Five sizes, one system.
From 8 × 6 ft to 8 × 20 ft. Every size shares the same pine cross-section, the same galvanised steel at every node, the same 4 mm twin-wall polycarbonate and the same 2.30 m ridge. Only the length changes — and the room to grow.

Ridge height 2.30 m and external width 2.60 m are constant across the whole range. If you are between two sizes, most owners later say they wish they had gone bigger.

Built by people who build them.
We say what we engineered, what the spec is, and what the warranty covers — and let you decide what that means for your garden. No "storm-proof", no "lifetime guarantee".

- Honest engineering — we state the spec, not a superlative.
- 14-day return on every size — if it doesn't suit your garden, we'll arrange the return.
- Delivery damage at our cost — we collect it, we send the replacement.
- Our customer-service team have built NORDIC structures themselves — they answer from experience, not a script.

The ones we hear most.

Will I need planning permission?
For most UK plots, no. NORDIC's 2.30 m ridge sits below the 2.5 m Permitted Development threshold for outbuildings. Exceptions: listed-building grounds, Article 4 zones, or plots where outbuildings already cover over 50% of the garden — check with your local council.
-
How long does it take to build?
Two adults, one weekend, no specialist tools. Pre-cut numbered panels, an illustrated guide and a scan-to-watch video tutorial.
-
Do I need a concrete pad?
No. Galvanised ground anchors hammer straight into prepared ground, paving or decking. No foundation pour required.
-
Can I paint the frame?
Yes — the Natural Swedish pine takes any exterior colour. Most owners paint after the first growing season; re-treatment with a UK-purchased preservative keeps the frame warranty in place.
-
Why polycarbonate, not glass?
It doesn't shatter (safer with children, pets and bare feet), it shrugs off hailstones and windborne debris, and twin-wall holds heat better than single-pane glass. CrystalLight is screw-fixed, so panels stay where they were fitted.
-
What if it arrives damaged?
Send a photo of the component and the pallet packaging — we arrange a replacement and collect the damaged part, at no charge to you.
