What will it really cost?

The price covers the cabin, the Harvia BC60 heater and kerbside delivery to the UK mainland. Stones and any delivery surcharge for your area are priced before checkout; a base, the electrician and the exterior treatment are yours. All listed here, before you pay.

Will it work where you live?

Start with your postcode.

Its own 35 A circuit from your consumer unit.

The Harvia BC60 runs on UK single-phase, or on three-phase where you have it. Your electrician decides the rest: the main fuse, what else shares it, the distance and the cable route. An electric shower or an EV charger on the same supply changes the design.

4Delivery

From the order to your kerb

Made to order, delivered to your kerb by lorry, typically in 2 to 4 weeks on the UK mainland.

1Made to order

Your cabin is made to order at the factory. Before it leaves, we ask for a photograph of your packed order and pass it on to you.

2The day is booked

Our carrier calls to book the day, so that you can be there to check the delivery. Order to kerb is typically 2 to 4 weeks on the UK mainland. A few postcodes carry a surcharge: chapter 3 shows yours.

3Set down at the kerb

It comes by lorry and is set down at the kerb, on the nearest hard, level standing: driveway or road, not grass, gravel or a slope. The lorry needs room to stop there. The driver does not carry it into the garden.

4Check before you sign

Note any damage on the delivery note and take photos, then check the parts. Email us within 14 days and we replace damaged or missing parts free of charge, delivery included.

Before it arrives: the base
A firm, level pad for the 160 × 120 cm footprint: a concrete slab, paving slabs or compacted gravel.
Level: the two base beams go down level and square.
No water connection: no mains water is needed.
Who builds it

You do, or a local joiner does: we do not offer assembly for any of our cabins.

The last metres are yours: the delivery stops at the kerb.
The heater connection is your electrician’s: a separate job, booked before delivery.

6Care and upkeep

Will it leak, rot or go mouldy?

Three jobs matter: treat the outside and leave the inside untreated; after each session leave the door open until the room is dry; and look the roof cover and the straps over once a year.

The clear roof cover and its batten
Roof cover

Look it over once a year: the screws along the battens and the edges of the sheet.

The back wall
Walls

Treat the outside as your exterior finish specifies; the inside stays bare wood.

The round vent on the back wall
Vent

After each session, leave the door open until the room is dry.

The base beams under the cabin
Base

Keep the base free-draining, so the beams never sit in water.

Parts for ten years

We keep replacement parts for 10 years from your purchase date: a board, a fitting, a panel.

How long will it last?

We do not put a number of years on it. The written warranty is 2 years; the rest is the three jobs above.

?FAQ

What is still on your mind?

Pick a subject, or type it.

Is two people realistic?

⌄
Yes. It is a narrow cabin for two. For more room, look at the longer Slim Two XL, or at The Cabin Three, which seats three.

Why is it so narrow?

⌄
At 120 cm wide it fits where a wider cabin will not: along a fence, beside a house, in a small garden.

Do I need planning permission?

⌄
Garden buildings are usually permitted development in England and Wales; this cabin covers 1.9 m² and stands 2.15 m tall. Height, distance to a boundary, conservation areas, listed settings, flats, Scotland and Northern Ireland all change the answer. Check the Planning Portal and your council before you order.

Should I tell my home insurer?

⌄
Yes, before delivery. Ask your insurer whether your policy covers the cabin and its heater, and which installation documents they need.

Where in the garden should it go?

⌄
Close to the house: you walk back from it in a towel. Face the glass door to the fence or the house, not the street, and leave room to walk round it.

Can I use it through a British winter?

⌄
It is built as an outdoor cabin, and we have not yet measured how it heats up in winter. Treat the outside before the first season.

Does it use a lot of electricity?

⌄
Only while the heater is on: 6 kW at full power for the BC60, nothing on standby. What an evening costs depends on your tariff and how long you keep the room hot.

Is the heater included?

⌄
Yes. The Harvia Vega BC60, 6 kW, is in the price, with its timer and thermostat on the heater; Harvia rates it for rooms of 5 to 8 m³. Stones are not: it takes 20 kg, one box. The heater circuit is your electrician’s job: ask for the quote before you order.

What does delivery cost?

⌄
Kerbside delivery to the UK mainland is in the price. The Isle of Wight is +£49, the Scottish Highlands +£79, Northern Ireland +£99 and the Scottish islands +£149, shown by postcode before checkout. For the Isle of Man, contact us before ordering; the Channel Islands, the Isles of Scilly and BFPO addresses are not served.

Does it need a water supply?

⌄
No. There is no water connection: you bring a pail of water in for the stones.

What exactly is it made of?

⌄
Solid timber boards for the walls, timber benches, a full-height glass door in a timber frame, and a clear sheet over the curved top.

What about children and the heater?

⌄
Keep children away from the heater, and do not leave them alone in the hot room.

Is a sauna safe for everyone?

⌄
We sell the cabin and do not give medical advice. If anyone in the household is pregnant or has a heart or blood-pressure condition, ask a GP before using any sauna.

Can I take it with me if I move house?

⌄
Plan the site as permanent: moving it is not something we provide for.

What if it arrives damaged or short?

⌄
Check the delivery before the driver leaves. Note any damage on the delivery note and take photos, then email us within 14 days of delivery with the photos and your order number. We replace damaged or missing parts free of charge, delivery included.

Can I send it back?

⌄
Yes. You have 14 days from delivery to cancel and a further 14 days to send it back, unused and in its packaging. Return is by pallet freight, which you arrange and pay for: typically £150 to £250 from a UK mainland address. Faulty or damaged goods are a different case: tell us and we arrange and pay for everything.

Will we actually use it?

⌄
The honest risk with any sauna is the habit, not the build. A cabin for two suits a couple who will use it every week. If you have never kept a sauna habit, try a month at a local gym first.

Who am I buying from?

⌄
Waldenhaus Limited, 71-75 Shelton Street, London WC2H 9JQ, Company No. 16877766. We sell garden structures for British weather: greenhouses first, and now saunas.

What are my legal rights?

⌄
The Consumer Rights Act 2015 applies: goods must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose. Distance orders carry a 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. These come from the law, whoever you buy from.
