Here's what wood gives you that aluminium and steel-only kits don't:

Engineered for British weather: durability you can trust

The British greenhouse failure pattern is predictable from the construction spec. We've taken apart enough wreckage from competitor products over the years to recognise the failure signatures: spring-clip releases, unanchored frames lifting, panel-edge fatigue from horizontal seams.

The NORDIC engineering decisions that prevent each:

1.2 mm galvanised steel at every joint. Cheap kits use 0.8 mm — a 30% material saving for a 50% drop in stiffness. We use 1.2 mm at every node where structural load transfers. The difference shows up in a storm gust, not on the spec sheet.

Screw-fixed panels at every edge. Spring W-clips fail in strong gales. Screw-fixing is engineered for exposed UK gardens. The CrystalLight panels on every NORDIC are screw-fixed at every panel edge, including the joints where wind load concentrates.

The glazing decision is independent of the frame. You can buy a wooden frame with glass, polycarbonate, or hybrid. Every NORDIC ships with 4 mm CrystalLight twin-wall polycarbonate because, for the British climate, it's the better answer:

Around 83% light transmission. Glass starts at around 90% in year one but drops with mineral haze. Polycarbonate starts at around 83% and holds that figure as the panels age (with a quality co-extruded UV layer, which CrystalLight has — engineered to stay clear long-term; the panels carry a 2-year polycarbonate panel warranty for manufacturer defects).

U-value approx 3.9 W/m²K. That's better insulation than 4 mm horticultural glass (U ≈ 5.8). In real overnight temperature gain in a British winter: 8–12 °C inside vs outside, vs 5–8 °C for glass. The difference is whether your tomatoes survive a March cold snap.

No shattering. Glass that breaks costs £4–£9 per pane to replace, plus you're picking shards out of the soil for a year. CrystalLight doesn't shatter. If a panel does fail (which is rare), replacement is £25–£40 and clips out without dismantling the frame.
